Description: The owners of bwtech@UMBC South aded a new 640-ton central chilled water plant to provide increased capacity at a greatly increased efficiency. The heart of the new system is two 320-ton Trane high-efficiency variable-speed centrifugal chillers. New cooling towers, a free-cooling heat exchanger, pumps and variable-frequency drives help to maximize efficiency. Ecologic worked with the design engineer, making recommendations to maximize efficiency, and served as the owner’s representative, assisting in the planning, development, and implementation of this multi-phase project.
