Owner: University of Maryland at Baltimore County
Partners: NORESCO, Temp Air Company, EMJAY Engineering and Construction Co. Inc., Min Engineering
Description: The University of Maryland at Baltimore County (UMBC) Chilled Water Optimization project is designed to significantly improve the efficiency of the school’s central plant and cooling for most of the campus. The project is estimated to reduce annual energy usage by 5,700,000 kWh and reduce annual GHG emissions by 3,100 MT eCO2. That’s a 7% reduction in electricity and a 3.5% reduction in carbon footprint, compared to UMBC’s baseline year of 2007. Ecologic developed the implementation phase of the project, assembled a team to design and carry out the desired strategies, and brought the project in under budget and on time.
